holding on to faith, 'cause i know you'll make a way

Isaiah 40:28 - 41:1a

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young man shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Listen to me in silence, O coastlands; let the peoples renew their strength..."

The Lord is the everlasting God. The creator of the ends of the earth, He does not faint or grows weary. His knowledge far outweighs our own, He gives power, He lifts up, and teaches you to soar.

Last week, I watched Red Rocks Church sermon, "What Not To Expect When You're Expecting". The following phrase has stuck with me this week and has reminded me of the promises that God has revealed to me, all that God has brought me through, and reminded me to wonder where I am going.

EXPECTATION is the belief that God will do something.

FAITH is the courage to act on that belief.

The number of times I have said, "I trust you God", only to sit and wait for Him to do something in and around my life is quite a hefty amount. "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things unseen." (Hebrews 11:1) If you read Hebrews 11, you'll see that "By faith", this great cloud of witnesses went. They chose to act in faith, out of the assurance of who they knew their father was. They did not always see the fullness of His promises but He did. He has carried and will carry every single one of his promises through to completion. He has created the beginning and he has seen the end. We can rest, we can be still and know that He is our faithful father.

He is never not working.

"And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God has provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect." (Hebrews 11: 39-40) They were expectant that God would follow through and keep His promise, and it's because of who God is, and who they know him to be that they had the faith and courage to leap in hopes to soar in the perfect truth and peace of who He is.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses" each of who's story reveals the faithfulness of God, "let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us" it is with expectant hearts and hope in our ever-faithful father that we, "look to Jesus, the founder and perfected of our faith, who for the joy was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 11: 39,40 - 12: 1,2)

"Listen to me in silence, O coastlands; let the peoples renew their strength..." (Isaiah 41: 1a)

"But they should wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:39)

It is with a humble heart we still our soul, and know the father is faithful and true. Today, chose to say, "I will trust" and chose to follow through on faith. Take the leap and soar. He is still working, he is still willing and able to lift you, to remind you to remember to be still. He was faithful then, and He will be faithful now.
